Top of Europe Flagship-Store
Lasa marble enriches the shopping experience of the Jungfrau Railways
For the new Top of Europe flagship store in the heart of Interlaken (Central Switzerland), Lasa Marmo manufactured floor slabs in 2 cm thickness as well as treads and steps of the same thickness. A total of 225 m² of refined Lasa marble was laid in the Lasa Marble Works. The floor slabs were supplied in LASA VENATO ARABESCATO®, the treads and steps in LASA !NDIVIDUAL®. All surfaces for the project were sanded.
Opened by Jungfrau Railways Management AG on 10 October 2019, the store offers ample sales space on two floors and an area of over 1000 m² for renowned Swiss top brands such as Swatch, Lindt & Sprüngli and Victorinox and combines the Jungfrau region experience with a Jungfrau Railways competence and information centre. The Ettenheim designer and graduate engineer Jan-Peter Keller from ArtEmotional - Atelier für Baukunst was responsible for the concept and design of the shopping experience world.
The use of refined Lasa marble not only matches the colour and theme of the rough high alpine mountain and glacier world, which is accessible by the Jungfrau Railways around the Interlaken region by means of rail, cogwheel and cable cars, but also guarantees an incomparable degree of authenticity as metamorphic limestone originating from the Alps with marble deposits between almost 1600 and 2300 metres.
Keller laid out the floor of the Victorinox shop with Lasa marble from the LASA VENATO ARABESCATO® variety as a high-contrast counterpart to the ceiling, which is decorated with 30,000 Victorinox pocketknives and reproduces the well-known cross and shield logo of the Swiss Army Knife manufacturer. The staircase to the second floor was uniquely designed in the shades of LASA !NDIVIDUAL®. Visitors walk through an adventure tunnel to reach the upper floor. In the Top of Europe Flagship Store there are numerous exciting staging elements from the Jungfrau world, such as a Belle Époque façade, a chalet and a representation of the unique glacier world around the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. In the entrance area there is an original Jungfraubahn locomotive from 1912, which used to pull the Eiger Ambassador Express. A replica railway track leads through the entire shop and thus serves as a visitor orientation aid.
