Sustainable Lasa marble for the floor design of the New York luxury business

The luxurious ready-made clothing and accessories of the Uruguayan fashion designer Gabriela Hearst, who lives and works in New York, are characterized by a clearly enforced principle of sustainability. In keeping with her principles, only sustainable materials were considered for the design of the flagship store in New York. Lasa Marmo supplied LASA VENATO VENA D'ORO^® floor slabs for the main store on Madison Avenue on New York's Upper East Side in 2018.

The design of the New York flagship store was created in cooperation between Gabriela Hearst and the Syrian-Italian architect and interior designer Zaher Katerji of Zari Architects in Milan. Natural and untreated oak panels were laid together with LASA VENATO VENA D'ORO^® warm-coloured marble in a chessboard pattern. The result is an extremely impressive floor design, which gives special authenticity to the use of precious materials for sustainability. The brushed surface emphasizes the naturalness of Lasa marble and emphasizes its radiance.

The furniture of the shop was made to measure by selected Italian craftsmen. The heart of the neutral-coloured, light-drenched retail shop, a large U-shaped piece of seating from the Istanbul design studio Autoban, was upholstered in white cashmere. Gabriela Hearst was thus able to build a main store in the Big Apple without synthetic elements or chemically treated materials. Without any short cuts, the designer created a place that is inviting, inspiring and authentic. The use of Lasa Marmo creates a suitable showcase and sales shop that presents the clothes designed by Gabriela Hearst and produced from sustainable materials such as Uruguayan sheep's wool. In November 2018, the renowned fashion and lifestyle magazine VOGUE praised Gabriela Hearst's New York flagship store as the "most beautiful store in New York City"
