Raw material / special design

The weather resistant white Lasa Marble has been a popular building material ever since. Through the formation of the 'k.k Fachschule für Steinbearbeitung' (imperial and royal professional school for stone working) in 1870, Laas (Lasa) in the Venosta Valley (Vinschgau) became a center for sculptural arts. The white gold from Laas (Lasa) has become a treasured raw material for many artists of the last Third in the 19th century. Even if today, the sculptural usage of Lasa Marble has taken a back seat compared to its manufacturing as building material, the Lasa Marmo Ltd. offers raw blocks and raw slabs, irrespective of the intended purpose, may it be a new marble sculpture, a new marble memorial or for other projects. In our in-house sculptor workshop, we manufacture special parts and offer individual and custom-made solutions, as well as 3D parts made-to-order.

The LASA® marble blocks are extracted from the quarry which we operate in the Lasa Valley (Laaser Tal) and are brought to the marble factory in a resource-friendly way. At the factory, the marble blocks are temporarily stored and further worked. This means, first of all, cutting to raw slabs. Our marble blocks are however also used as raw material for tombstones or as workpiece for sculptures for sculptors and stone masons. For companies processing natural stone, we offer LASA® marble blocks of various sizes and qualities, as well as amounts for further handling. Thanks to the smooth extraction methods, our blocks are of particular material quality. Our large stock of blocks also guarantees a short-term readiness of delivery.

For our clients, we create exclusive works and unique pieces, as well as custom and special fabrications in LASA® marble for interior or exterior use, the construction sector, and for representative or artistic purposes, according to the client's needs and based on individual planning and vision.

To this end, our company has not only four in-house five-axis CNC machines but also its own internal sculpture workshop. With our state-of-the-art milling equipment and through traditional sculpting techniques, we can realize any design and 3D model based on your specifications. We are happy to provide you with comprehensive advice.

We cut slabs of LASA® marble, which can be further worked to wall claddings, floors and cut to size. Most typically, the gang saw handles standard thicknesses 2 and 3 cm up to a length and width of 3 x 2 meter, depending on quality and color. Additional sawing thicknesses are possible upon request. The surfaces are treated according to preferences in the following finishes: polished, honed, brushed, sandblasted, bush hammered or treated with sandwaterjet.

The core of custom 3D fabrications is four in-house five-axis CNC machines. With these state-of-the-art milling machines, we can create any 3D model based on your specifications. Three engineers oversee your custom fabrications from planning through to completion. The CNC milling machines are equipped with an innovative rotary milling head that operates on five interpolating axes, seamlessly allowing cutting, turning, and polishing operations, enabling the transformation of a raw marble block into a complex sculpture.
