Residential house “Project M”, Merano (Meran), Maia Alta (Obermais)

Around the swimming pool: LASA BIANCO ORTLES® creates an exclusive flair

Since ancient times, a villa has been considered the supreme discipline in house building. Individuality, lavishness and prestige, surrounded by a magical flair, are the hallmarks of these buildings. Almost all over the world, they are the epitome of exclusive living culture and a distinguished lifestyle, whether in the city or in the country. For the residential house “Project M", built in 2011/2012 in Maia Alta (Obermais), the villa district of the spa town of Merano (Meran), Lasa Marmo supplied gleaming white Lasa marble of the LASA BIANCO ORTLES® variety for the design of the outdoor terrace, the connecting stairs to the residential building and for the swimming pool surrounds, including the poolside stones.

For the villa, designed according to plans by the Bolzano-based architectural firm monovolume architecture + design, 450 m2 were clad with Lasa marble of the commercial variety LASA BIANCO ORTLES®. Large-format floor slabs with a thickness of 2 cm were made. The surfaces were brushed and sandblasted. The single-family house designed in white is based on the idea of the interplay between solid and transparent surfaces, so that views in, out and through have been created. The interior space merges with the exterior space. The terrain flows through the building and finds its extension in the pool and meadow area. Due to the sophisticated exterior design and arrangement of the pool, lawn, garden and house, the whole appears as a unit with seamless transitions. "In principle, we chose the LASA marble because it is distinctly weather resistant and durable for the outdoor area and the pool area. Furthermore, because it fits the design and the concept of the white villa," says architect and co-founder of monovolume architecture + design, Jury Anton Pobitzer. Indeed, Lasa marble is characterised by a particular hardness and durability, is chlorine-resistant and can therefore also be used for swimming pools.
