Art House Basel

Lasa marble ̶ part of a unique guest experience in Basel's trendy quarter

In the heart of Basel, Lasa Marmo has refined various wet areas with marble of the LASA BIANCO ORTLES® variety for the new Art House Basel hotel building, which opened in mid-2020. In the new Lifestyle Hotel, built between 2018 and 2020, wall panels, floor tiles and shower panels as well as 2 massive washstands were installed from natural stone extracted in the Lasa valley and processed in the Lasa Marmo factory.

The Art House Basel is located in the middle of the "Steinenvorstadt", the trendy district of Basel, and combines contemporary architecture by Diener & Diener Architects with urban street art by Italian designer Andrea Caputo. The 7-storey building houses 33 designer rooms and suites in the middle-class range, as well as a restaurant on the ground floor and an exclusive rooftop bar on the 6th floor. Guests can expect hip urban art mixed with a modern boutique feeling in the art house. A special feeling of high quality and modern interior design is created by the wall and floor surfaces covered with LASA BIANCO ORTLES® Lasa marble in various wet rooms. For this purpose, planners and hotel owners decided on large-scale slab formats as well as polished surface treatment of the marble. The shower panels used and the two 2.7 metre long, solid washstands, CNC-milled by Lasa Marmo, are of particularly high design quality. Opened in summer 2020, the next-generation hotel has been part of the "Design Hotels" since August of the same year, an international hotel group that offers accommodation, gastronomy and hospitality worldwide, with a focus on unique experiences in art, design and architecture.
