1921The municipality of Lasa withdraws Lechner's extraction rights and transfers them to Matthias Gasteiger

Gasteiger remained true to his idea of selling the company with minimum capital outlay at the highest possible price even after World War I. The only condition that changed was that, due of the outcome of the war and the Paris agreement, the object of the sale was now in the Kingdom of Italy.

His mammoth project to open a large section of the mountain near the Nesselwand was shelved in 1920 in favor of an easier route. Thanks to the excellent relationship with the municipal administration of Lasa, then still in the hands of local people, Gasteiger managed to have Lechner’s Weisswasser extraction rights canceled. The latter’s contract had been signed in 1906 with duration of 25 years and would have otherwise ended in 1931.
