The consortium of investors assembled by Gasteiger undersigned a series of truly outstanding investments. Their extent can only be explained with the so-called "Prosperity" of the US economy in those years. Before this industrial enterprise no other company in theVinschgau had employed more than 250 workers. At that time the staff was also often only used for half a year, during summer and autumn. Lasa Marmo would come to employ up to 500 workers for long periods of time, with peaks of 600. The core business was the mass processing and production of marble for use as construction material.
