Walther von der Vogelweide, Bolzano (Bozen)

The monument in Lasa marble is dedicated to the most important German-language poet of the Middle Ages, Walther von der Vogelweide, and was created in 1889 by the sculptor Heinrich Natter (1844-1892). It is located in Bolzano (Bozen) on the centrally located Walther von der Vogelweide Square. The artist, who was born in Curon (Graun) in the Val Venosta Valley (Vinschgau) and worked in Vienna, created the monument together with a fountain in the Romanesque style, the end of which, above a pedestal, forms the statue of the minstrel.
