Johann Strauss (son), Vienna

The monument, unveiled on 26th June 1921, was erected in memory of the "King of Waltz", the Viennese composer Johann Strauss Jr. (1825-1899). Created by the Viennese sculptor Edmund Hellmer (1850-1935), the monument consists of a gilded bronze statue standing on a Lasa marble base and surrounded by a marble arch in relief, also made of Lasa marble. The monument, which was erected in the Vienna City Park, is one of the most photographed monuments in the city of Vienna.
