Empress Elisabeth "Sisi" Monument

The monument in honour of Empress Elisabeth "Sisi" (1837-1898) of Austria and Queen of Hungary was erected in 1903 by the Austrian sculptor Hermann Klotz (1850-1932). The monument, made entirely of Lasa marble, stands in the greenery of the Merano (Meran) summer promenade near the Post Bridge. The work shows the popular Austrian monarch in an elegant but simple dress, sitting in a wicker chair.
