Beethoven-Haydn-Mozart, Berlin

In 1904 a monument was erected in the ‘Großer Tiergarten‘, a central park in Berlin, in honour of the composers Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827), Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791). The Beethoven-Haydn-Mozart Monument (also called Composer Monument) is 10 meters high. On each of its three sides there is a half figure of the composers. The sculptor Rudolf Siemering (1835-1905) won the competition for a suitable monument, but had to revise and simplify his original design several times. As architect, his son Wolfgang supervised the work, which was completed in 1904.
