2009Laas is in the mood for new beginnings
Lasa Marmo AG's (JSC's) first year under new management begins from an economic perspective in the midst of the global financial crisis. Numerous investments are made to modernize the machinery and increase capacity. The extraction and processing of marble from the quarries in the Lasa Valley (Laaser Tal) is to be brought up to the latest technical standards. In spring 2009, Lasa Marmo AG transfers the ownership rights of the railway facility to the "Self-administration civil usage rights Lasa (Laas)/main town" ("Eigenverwaltung bürgerliche Nutzungsrechte Laas/Hauptort"), a territorial administrative unit of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano-South Tyrol, which manages assets of a fraction within a municipality. With this measure, the transport facility can be made available to all quarry operators. At Lechner Marmor AG (JSC), preparations are made for the construction of the Jenn Cliff (Jennwand) cableway crane once all the authorities have given the green light for the project.
