Quarry feeling with LASA VENATO® for 155-metre-high feel-good tower
Just steps from Toronto's Union Station, Canada's largest transportation hub, and surrounded by a vibrant mix of restaurants and first-class hotels, major sports venues and landmarks such as the CN Tower, the 155-metre-high 16 York office tower is located in the southern downtown core. Lasa Marmo supplied 800 square metres of LASA VENATO® commercial grade wall panels for the interior walls of the wrap-around lobby, which is over 10 metres high.
Located in the centre of Toronto's dynamic and expanding business district, the 33-storey 16 York office tower is exceptional from every perspective. Designed by the team of Architects Alliance and B+H Architects, this premier office property was designed with an artistic eye and exceptional attention to detail. Commissioned by owners Cadillac Fairview and the Ontario Pension Board, the building was designed to implement and even exceed LEED Platinum and International Well Institute guidelines for environmental and workplace quality. The designers' goal was to create a workplace environment that adapts to all needs and focuses on the health and well-being of the occupants. This includes, in particular, an over 10-metre-high glass lobby facing east, north and west. It is the showpiece of the building, adding remarkable sophistication to one of Toronto's most important precincts with its distinctive stepped exterior and soaring perimeter glass façade. This includes, in particular, the wall cladding for the lobby's inner core, which houses 16 high-speed lifts. What was formed 400 million years ago in the northern Ortles (Ortler) Alps was carefully retrieved from the treasure trove of the White Water Quarry, refined in the Lasa Marmo factory and now fascinates people on the other side of the Atlantic who work in or just want to visit the 16 York ‘feel-good’ Tower.
