Hospital of Silandro

Hard Lasa marble for a durable exterior façade

What colour should a hospital have on the outside? For the new Silandro (Schlanders) District Hospital, which opened in 2005, the colour white as a symbolic colour for medical professions was an obvious option. The choice of the special façade cladding with white marble slabs of the Lasa marble commercial varieties LASA BIANCO ORTLES® and LASA BIANCO NUVOLATO® was a conscious decision of the architect and planner Kurt Stecher, who himself comes from the Venosta (Vinschgau) Valley. "Marble is a natural resource that has the right place in a public building because its durability is planned for many years," says Stecher.
