Although Lasa marble is still quarried in blocks today as it has been over the years, the quarry now has much more modern tools at its disposal, tools which cause much less damage to the precious white marble than those of the past. The very latest mechanical saws and chain-saws have diamond-edged blades which can cut blocks weighing as much as eight tons into more manageable sizes and the Weißwasser (White Water) quarry works all year round.
