Lasa stands for marble

The little village of Laas (in German) or Lasa (in Italian) is first mentioned as Laz in documents dating from the year 1209. The origins of the name are not known although it may stem from a pre-Romanesque term for stone, gravel or pebbles (see the Greek word λίθος meaning stone).
