Our “marble train” is a really unique means of transporting the raw marble. It is the only one of its kind in the world and does very little damage to nature or the environment. Lasa Marmo JSC will go on using this very efficient transport system which, after more than eighty years since it was installed, still runs on its original parts. We appreciate the fact that our quarries are situated in the Stilfser Joch/Stelvio Natural Park, an ecologically sensitive area, and therefore strive to ensure maximum respect of the park’s delicate eco-system and its very particular flora and fauna. To this end, in 2007, the new owners of the Lasa Marble Company commissioned biology and limnology experts to give their valued opinion and advice regarding the protection of the environment. Lasa Marmo JSC sees itself as a partner of the local population and will refuse to use harmful, new, artificial production systems in favour of methods which have a low impact on nature and leave few visible traces on the landscape.
