Lasa Marble and its importance

You cannot stop time - and, for us, it sometimes seemed an equally impossible task to revive the ancient traditions of marble craftsmanship in the area. Certain values, however, have remained unchanged over the centuries and have outlives mere fashion and passing tendencies. Stone has existed right from the beginning of the world as we know it and man has worked it in many ways, for both practical and artistic purposes. Marble, one of natural stone’s most alluring variations, is unique and ever beautiful whether in its raw state, as an exquisite, decorative work of art or sculpted into a statue which reflects the sun’s rays. There are as many kinds of marble as there are human beings and Laas/Lasa, in particular, is known for its “white gold”, as the valley people choose to call the pure, snow-white, local marble.
