Our company, Lasa Marmo JSC, which today also comprises Lechner Marmor JSC, occupies an area of some 55,000 square metres towards the south of the village of Laas (Lasa) in the Vinschgau (Venosta) valley of South Tyrol in the extreme north of Italy. The plant is actually the end-of-the-line along the route which our top-quality, pure white marble takes on its way from the quarries in the nearby Laas (Lasa) valley to our customers. Our headquarters are, in fact, the final station of the very unique little Laas (Lasa) Marble Train railway which was opened in 1930 and has carried marble to our workshops ever since. We are immensely proud of this ideal, very practical transport system which is of considerable cultural, historic and technical interest. It respects both nature and the surrounding countryside and has been working efficiently for over eighty years.
